For those of you who have been in NYC and driven under the underwater tunnel, what a feeling when you come out to this huge city full of lights even during the day, super tall buildings, cars, yellow taxis, busy people, everybody is talking on their cellphone, everybody is going somewhere, meeting someone, walking very fast. The energy is indescribable, so sophisticated yet people try to be casual, parks full of artist, brake dancers, people in bathing suits during the summer, city children but none of them with their parents but with their nanny's walking around. Food everywhere, so many types of restaurants, hot dogs stands, coffee shops, everybody walks with some sort of drink in their hands. So many different cultures all mixed in, different languages, skin colors, fashionistas, people that look like they got out of a magazine, runners, dog walkers, business people OMG!
I could continue describing it all but then I will never be done! Jimmy and I arrived at about noon in NY, park the car at a garage and started walking. We walked down to ''Ground Cero'', what a memorable place. All of this thoughts went trough my head about 9\11, I had been there before but I get impressed yet sad every time. I can help wonder how that day was for many people, what a terrible moment in history that was and still is. We walked around, took pictures and bought a hot dog, not because we where hungry, but because Jimmy felt like he had to since we where in NY! lol
Our plan was to walk to Chelsea Piers after this, but by the time this was happening we had already walked a LOT and I was kinda tired! we sat down at some bench on the sidewalk somewhere and discussed our next move.
Jimmy had talked to me about Eataly before we left Costa Rica, but by the time we first arrived in NY everything was so overwhelming we kinda forgot about it until we sat down. I told him I wasn't walking no more so our only choice was to take a taxi, which is almost a most when in NY.
We walked into this huge warehouse and it was like a little piece of Italian heaven in NY. All kinds of foods there, but everything was divided in sections. Meat section, pasta, pizza, fish, vegetables, bread, candy and so on. Up on the 15th floor they had a restaurant called ''birreria'' here they serve high quality beer and food under the stars and skyline. Head brewer Peter Hepp is brewing unfiltered, unpasteurized and naturally carbonated Cask Ales just 30 feet from where you sit, eat and drink. Each is served through traditional hand pumps, at the perfect temperature, so you can enjoy our beers in the most natural and traditional way. We had a little appetizer that was Fried Shiitake mushrooms and sage a couple of beers and off to the Empire State Building we went.
Up on the 86th floor of the Empire State the views of NYC are unbelievable and breathtaking. We took a load of pictures and just enjoyed the moment and the sounds from up there of the city sounded kind of tiny.
We needed hit the road again soon so dinner by this time sounded perfect. We walked down to Union Square near to where our car was parked at and looked around for a nice restaurant. Right in the corner there it was one called ''Blue Water Grill''. Blue Water Grill restaurant has delivered top seafood, sushi, scene and jazz to Union Square for almost two decades.
Blue Water Grill’s former bank digs separate the front bar area, main dining room and jazz room, making it well suited to take all types, from nearby NYU overachievers to Grill regulars. This New York seafood & sushi restaurant is perfect for jazz resonance, outdoor seating & people watching in Union Square. Our dinner was outstanding, service was great and our dinner turned into a romantic eve! You just gotta LOVE NY!
We arrived in Whitinsville,MA a little past midnight, Jimmy's mom was up waiting for us and for him this was a warming ''welcome home'', after hugs and kisses we went to bed exhausted after a long day in the ''city that never sleeps''
